Default RE: what to get

Honestly... someone that is headed toward being ready to fly "Top Gun" level competition (best of the best only need apply there...) would have a better understanding of the reasons one type model CAN'T do all the types of stuff you are asking for.

You don't take a Piper Cub and plan to win a 3D aerobatics competition against an Extra 300.

You don't take a racing modified P-51 and try 3D aerobatics either...

Different aircraft do different things well.

Slope soaring CAN accomodate a wide range of models... there are slope sites you coukld push a Top Gun quality jet powered model off the cliff and fly the thing for 20 min deadstick. (we joked at one site....you could almost fly a brick with control surfaces added... 25 mph avg wind speed... nearly vertical.)

There are some slope sites... you can't fly anything less maneuverable than what the EPP foam "PSS" (Power Slope Scale) would be... because the space can be TIGHT.

Thermal hunting you need long thin wings because they are more efficient... and the wings length helps you locate the thermals.

Aerotow... those long wings can create some trouble keeping the plane behind the towplane. The glider may not be able to turn tight enough quickly enough. (a good towpilot will avaoid doing a turn the glider can't follow. But that takes practice.)
