Sounds like we have had similar experiences with our simulators, aren't they great I love how those instincts start to kick in when you are in real trouble.

I wish I'd bought Aerofly from the start but the modified G2 planes mimic my real planes pretty good. I just started doing rolling harriers and rolling harrier circles on my 3DX, I couldn't have done it without a simulator

I should add that in the last two months since I bought the sim my 3D flying has advanced quicker than ever before and it's been too cold to fly

Some people I know don't like them, but once you realize their value you have to buy a sim.
