IT FLIES
Had a couple of flights today! First one was with the motor very rich and it went dead stick eventually, not a problem though cos I was flying on the Hastings model show site( about 10 football pitches side by side). A couple of clicks of left aileron was all it needed. Second flight I leaned it out about half a turn! ( still rich)and throttling was much better.Started chucking it about a bit more and it was great, nice axial slow rolls and aero type stuff finished off with a perfect landing with the engine still running! Not switched to 3D rates yet and didn't get another flight coz then a late arrival told me my car window had been punched out by some w***** to nick the stereo [

] damaged the paint on both doors and rear pillar!
The plane flew really nice though. Didn't notice any pitch problems on the landings(dead stick or power) just floated in real nice without any tendancy to porpoise or stall out.The power of the YS was awesome and gave sustained vertical climbs as fast as level flight!
The IH iso mount did a great job. Not too much flexibility causing shake rattle & roll but enough so that I noticed NO airframe resonance at all.Overall the plane was MUCH quieter than the other planes at the field.
I can see the 14x5n option working well because on the 1st flight I new the engine was very rich and so just cruised about on a low steady throttle setting, but was still wary of flutter because it wasn't hanging around.
My spats didn't rotate or split either, but then its only a couple of flights eh. I am hopeful that they will last because I managed to attach the axle shaft through the wheel to the outer side of the spats also.
Now to get the car fixed!!!!
