Covered in the same stuff. I have found the foam doesn't like the heat from an iron too well, so Monokote is out. It's just standard sign vinyl. Go to a sign shop, or better yet, a sign supply wholesaler.
I made the span 50 inches instead of 48 to handle the extra weight of the MDS .68. I also double beveled the hinge points, which gives me 90 deg. of deflection. I'll set up the controls for 60 deg. I also integrated the landing gear mount with the hardwood motor mount, so it's one piece. The HOTS had a little 2x2 block glued in for the gear. It held fine, but it was at the bottom of the fuse and caused a twisting stress crack in the foam from hard landings. This is in the center, meatier portion of the fuse. I also used tri-stock balsa at the wing/fuse joint for a bit more strength in the wing mount.
