Has the Ultimate ever competed in IAC?
I've always heard from other modelers that the Ultimate has never competed in IAC and that it was just an airshow plane. Does anyone know the story on this. I've been to Gordon Price's web site and it gives a very good history of the 10-100 thru 10-300. But it does not say what compatitions it was in, if any.
Also how many 10-300s where built? According to the web site there where only 1 of each 10-100 and 10-200s built. If memory serves the 10-100 was crashed and the 10-200 is rusting away in a field somewhere in Canada.
He said he was trying to better the Pitts. The 10-100 looks alot like a Pitts. It wasn't until the 10-200 that it started to look like the Ultimate we know. So Gordon stretched the fuse and a few other mods and the 10-300 was born. According to the web site neither plane lived up to Gordon's expectations.
But it sure makes a great flying model! Thanks Gordon!
