I lay it on, and tack it down along the entire top. Then I lay one side down, and tack it at the bottom, and around the sides, then do the same to the other side. Once it is completely tacked down, I seal all of the edges. Finally, apply a heat gun to shrink it all in place while rubbing it with a gloved hand.
