Mike,

the 8 stands for the 0.75inch dia inlet...3/4"

the 9 stands for the 7/8" inlet

Also the diameters of the fat part of the pipes are different.

Check Centrals website for the dims....

Yes the 7/8" inlet will be less critical as it is more volume...The guys that have the 2 strokes running well know that the volume is important.
