My friend Jay crashed his Top Flite P-51 and I got what was left.
The cockpit was in good shape so I cut the whole thing out with a razor saw and saved it. It was detailed and had a pilot figure and a chart on the dash.
When I got bored with the PT-19 I removed the cockpits and wood work and grafted in the Mustang cocplit, looked great. I even shortend the PT-19 role bar that sits between the cockpits and installed it on the radio shelf behind the pilot. The only markings I changed were to add
"PT-51" to the tail.
People would walk past it in the pits, do a double-take, turn around and go back to look at it.
