RE: Fun While it lasted!!!!!!!!!!
Dru, I hate to hear that you scattered your Half-Wit : ( However, I am glad to hear that you were having a good time with it (while it lasted). : )
I was going to answer your other post, but I'll put it here instead- It sounds like you were right on the edge of getting the thing to hover well. At home, I compared a 2oz Sully tank to a new film cannister tank that went on my latest Half-Wit variant, and the difference was pretty great. I am pretty doggone sure that substituting the tank would have made the difference you were waiting for.
Here's why..... because of poor component selection, my latest Half-Wit came out at just over 14 oz's. At that weight, it would just barely hover when the engine was running just right. I put it on a weight savings program (changed the wheels, the batt pack and dropped the base loaded antenna) and the resulting weight was 12.8oz's RTF. The difference, while it sounds like a small amount, is much more when thought of as a percentage. The results of the weight savings program resulted in a plane that punches out of a hover and will launch vertically out of my hand.
Build yourself another. Its even more fun the second time around.
