My first flight was just over 1 year ago, March 15, 2003. I took my brand new Aerobird out to the field in about a 12 MPH wind and tossed it up in the air. Did one successful turn around the field. Ugly but landed in one piece. Went up again. While turning cross wind a huge gust came up, maybe 18 mph, and just took the plane downwind. At one point the plane was pointing at me at full power, but seemed to be going bckwards. I ditched, but never found the plane in the woods.

Got my second Aerobird the following weekend. 150+ flights on that one plus 9 other planes later and I am SOOOO hooked!
