RE: how do you replace GWS gearbox shaft?
Before removing the gear from the shaft it is wise to measure the installed height. Take a reading from the rear of the shaft to the front of the hub. I have replaced a few myself, using IPS shafts (in a pinch) in a EPS drive with no problems. Make sure the "float" of the shaft stays within the motor pinion. Try to set up the float as tight as possible without binding the shaft. I set mine up to 0.005" to 0.008" This is a good time to wash out the bearing and lube them with 3 in 1 oil.
