This isn't really in line with the purpose of this forum, but I'll answer anyway.

I don't see engine prices dropping any lower than US$1500 for a manufactured engine or kit. Although the engines are smaller and produce less thrust, there is still the same labour for assembly and testing as well as the cost of the ECUs and other ancillaries. I might be a pessimest, but I don't think they will go much lower.
