Ref the carb hole being close to the bolt holes.

I understand your concern. Chip told me to put some circles of FG cloth where the the stand-offs go and zap them in place. This stops the wood crushing as much and as such stops the engine moving around. Just soaking the edge of the ply with thin zap near the holes will also help and should make you more feel comfortable.
