RE: Sukhoi 26 - need data!
Sukhoi 26 Fans,
Today I took the Sukhoi to the field and did the maiden flight! I must say - although it was a bit windy - what a smooth flying and beautiful tracking airplane. I was really pleased! After doing some modificatins to the kit - enforced the fuselage and mounted the gear forward, took 2 servos for the elevator, moved the tank to the CG and installed a Perry Pump , changed the pull pull for the rudder, repaired major parts of the wing, ..... , the plane was finally ready. It really took longer than expected!
I first run the motor direct with no pump in order to do the necessary adjustments. This somewhat didn't work. the tank is to far back and the motor was not willing to rev up properly. I hooked up the Perry Pump and reuglated the high end and low end. Both had to be leaned in order to get a smooth transition and a clean high end. This only took about 40 minutes. After that I put on the cowl and after a couple feet the plane was in the air. It's true, the lighter they are the better they fly. The Sukhoi weight's roughly 10lbs and has plenty power with the OS1.60. I went up straight, flew loops, rolls, ...., the motor didn't stutter once. I really like it a lot.
I included some pictures. It's a real nice flying plane!
