Hi,
I got a Sukhoi 26 but I don't have any paperwork, plans or something like this. Honestly, I am not even sure if it is the Goldberg Kit. The plane has an OS 1.60 mounted on it. The only data I have is that it has a one piece wing (73") and the gear is mounted on the wing. What I would need is:
- What kit could that be?
- CG - how many inch from the leading edge?
- What should be the elevator, ailerons throw - I don't really see the sukhoi as a 3D plane ?!
- Does anybody know of some mods I should do?
Thanks for your help (as always)
Rainer

I think this is what u have:
http://www.carlgoldbergproducts.com/sukhoi26.htm
This link shows the incidence angles, throws and all the other data that u are looking for etc etc. Email Cg for a set of plans I am sure they wil oblige! I think they will cost you 30 bucks for the set of plans and instructions.
Heres a link on the goldberg su 26 on RCU. Send the guys who posted there some pics and they may be able to help u.
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_14...mpage_2/tm.htm
Are you sure its a SU 26 kit and not a SU 31 kit? Black horse makes a Su 31 kit in 1.20 size. Should be close. Read the rcu post...

Also see
A 79" sukhoi SU-26 http://www.rc-tronics-topp-rippin.de/sukhoi.htm
A scratch built Su-26 with CAD plans can be found @ http://www.geocities.com/rcsu26mx/ these were built by a guy called ERIK although the plans feature a 2 piece wing but Erik would have done a lot of research on the subject includign existing kits etc. Also see the link 'other peoples sukhoi's' in erik's site.
Other sites are
http://akmodels.bizland.com/ who among other kits also offers laser cut parts based on Erik's plans.
Hope it helps.

Sukhoi 26 Fans,
Today I took the Sukhoi to the field and did the maiden flight! I must say - although it was a bit windy - what a smooth flying and beautiful tracking airplane. I was really pleased! After doing some modificatins to the kit - enforced the fuselage and mounted the gear forward, took 2 servos for the elevator, moved the tank to the CG and installed a Perry Pump , changed the pull pull for the rudder, repaired major parts of the wing, ..... , the plane was finally ready. It really took longer than expected!
I first run the motor direct with no pump in order to do the necessary adjustments. This somewhat didn't work. the tank is to far back and the motor was not willing to rev up properly. I hooked up the Perry Pump and reuglated the high end and low end. Both had to be leaned in order to get a smooth transition and a clean high end. This only took about 40 minutes. After that I put on the cowl and after a couple feet the plane was in the air. It's true, the lighter they are the better they fly. The Sukhoi weight's roughly 10lbs and has plenty power with the OS1.60. I went up straight, flew loops, rolls, ...., the motor didn't stutter once. I really like it a lot.
I included some pictures. It's a real nice flying plane!

How did you move the gear forward? Can you upload a few pics? I bought a partially built one from a guy. He has built it with the gear on the wing, but I like the gear on the fuse like the newer kits. Glad to hear its a good flyer. Did you do anything to reduce weight?

Hi Wrongwaywayne (what a name!)
Moving the gear up was easy. I cut out a piece of balsa just before the wing and inserted a 5layer plywood piece. Additionally I added some enforcment from the plywood to each side of the fuselage and put fiberglass around it. This way the force is distributed evenly into the side of the fuaselage and not just on the piece of wood holding the gear. Afterwards I adjusted the cowling. The cover under the wing stays with the wing. This way the plane is assembled very fast. The whole mod was done in a couple of hours. I look if it's worth taking some pictures and if you can see anything and poswt them.
The kit is rather old and I had to do a few repairs (rebuilding part of the trailing edge, the leading edge,. ...). Therefore I think that the plane put on a copuple of oz. The whole plane weights a little over 10lbs. It really was flying nice and I could slow it down a lot before it stalled and tipped over. You could even tell the moment because it became a bit shaky before it happened.
Talk to you soon,
regards
Rainer

Thanks for the info. It would be good to see some pics.
This one of mine will be more work. It was stored by the PO in a very humid shed and the wing sheeting is all warped. I will have to carefully remove it and then replace it. Not sure how to do this with out destroying the ribs.

Here are some pics:
As you can see, I doubled /enforced the side of the fuselage in order to distribute the forcs. In the previous tank area I also inserted some plywood in order to absorb as much as possible. The entire part is covered with fiber glas and that's abot it. So far no problems - however, I did not have a rough landing yet.
I hope this will help you & good luck!
