It IS definitely illegal to change crystals in a transmitter in the US. I know that some people do it for their own convenience, but it ticks me off.

There are pager companies (and others) just champing at the bit to get hold of our frequencies, so why the heck would anyone risk pissing off the FCC and giving them a reason to take our frequencies?
