RE: ad skyraider arc
hi Roger
i have eyed the skyraider at toledo show for the past 2 years but at the time ,I just thought the 495$ was a little high.i called and e-mailed various arf mfgs about the possibility of making an arf of it.A couple were considering it but no commitment.Well ,fourpi had a show special this year on the skyraider .i couldn't refuse.
Now on to the arc itself;Charlie Bauer, the designer, based the instruction for an expert builder, which i am not ,but i think it will go together without to much trouble. As recieved,it is set up with fixed gear but a templet is included for installation of the robart 615 retracts.the overall appearance is very good and the whole plane is sanded smooth. The wing planels plug into a center section which is also prebuilt. There are mods that have to be done but ziroli covers these in his review which is included in the kit.you can find the review in flying models magazine april 2003 issue. The cowl is fiberglass and round and plain.I plan on putting these in by sinply making cuts where the cowl flaps go .then while heating the area, bending flap area up.then let cool.should work .ailerons and flaps are hinged but not glued.Bag og hardware is included and a very nicely done canopy.
roger ,i will take pics and e-mail them to you when i can.I don't have a digital camera.Any others question,i'll be gald to try and answer them.formers have been laser cut .Construction and the quality are very very good. Not sure where it is made but will try and find out.
