yes it is and I can Google with the best... I have read the manual but I'd like to see pics from an owner or something... I'm just not going to beg or say "Show me a video!!" as most guys that do this don't own a camera themselves...

Last year about this time One of the model mags did a write up. Nick Ziroli I believe did the build and flight. There should be a copy of the article in the box with the plane. Not a bad build and very favorable flight characteristics. I had one but sold it doe to other projects. It looked really good but the cowl needed some work. It was too plain.

Ken, I was hoping someone I knew would buy one of these. Fill me in. I am also thinking about getting one of these, but the 495.00 price tag tuned me off. I figured that by the time you add the covering cost you would have another 100-150 in it. Yes? No? More? Can you post some pictures of whats inside the box. The PDF file just doesn't provide much in picture quality. How does the gear , cowling and all the other stuff seem to be in comparison to other ARF kits? Can't wait to get your feedback on this one.

Paint it like my Dad's too!! jk... He was AH VA-152 (the one on top baby!) Whichever paint scheme you choose Navy or Airforce don't forget the big black exhaust stain from that Wasp Engine (not shown in this picture) hehe

I have to whole heartedly agree. Where are these kits made? Maybe if they were made in the US, this price is justified.
If not I just can't see paying $500 for a 90- 1.20 sized arc plane thats made in a sweat shop. I was very interested also till I saw the price. []

hi Roger

i have eyed the skyraider at toledo show for the past 2 years but at the time ,I just thought the 495$ was a little high.i called and e-mailed various arf mfgs about the possibility of making an arf of it.A couple were considering it but no commitment.Well ,fourpi had a show special this year on the skyraider .i couldn't refuse.
Now on to the arc itself;Charlie Bauer, the designer, based the instruction for an expert builder, which i am not ,but i think it will go together without to much trouble. As recieved,it is set up with fixed gear but a templet is included for installation of the robart 615 retracts.the overall appearance is very good and the whole plane is sanded smooth. The wing planels plug into a center section which is also prebuilt. There are mods that have to be done but ziroli covers these in his review which is included in the kit.you can find the review in flying models magazine april 2003 issue. The cowl is fiberglass and round and plain.I plan on putting these in by sinply making cuts where the cowl flaps go .then while heating the area, bending flap area up.then let cool.should work .ailerons and flaps are hinged but not glued.Bag og hardware is included and a very nicely done canopy.
roger ,i will take pics and e-mail them to you when i can.I don't have a digital camera.Any others question,i'll be gald to try and answer them.formers have been laser cut .Construction and the quality are very very good. Not sure where it is made but will try and find out.

Thanks for the update, Ken. Please keep us posted with your progress. Are you planning to add the retracts? I would imagine you would with a plane this nice. It just wouldn't seem right to leave it with fixed gear. You didn't mention the show price. If you don't want to thats OK, but am curious what it could be purchased for.

I'm just shocked one of the good ARF mfg's haven't come out with this one. I think everyone is tired of P-51's, Corsairs and Zero's. I would like something different thats along the scale of the WM Giant P-51 which is a very nice airplane with the exception of the mechanical retracts. Anyone that has had one of these for any time knows the mechanical retracts get a bit wobbly with time and use.

The only choices I have found is this one and then everything else is 100"+ WS with one in the 60 sized. Not many choices.

Good luck with your project.
