What the charger manufacturers don't tell you is that the charge lead is critical to the proper operation of the charger. Make sure your leads are as short as possible, using the thickest wire as is practical, and all the connections are well-secured (solder is shiny, crimps are tight).

It's always better to do a charge/discharge/charge cycle instead of a discharge/charge on a battery when you don't know what state of charge it is in. Your Triton may be working perfectly, and the Hummingbird pack may simply be discharged.
