I had mine on a 16 lb. 300S and with the right prop it had "ALMOST" unlimited vertical. In my opinion anything under 14 lbs. fully loaded should give you what you want. Their is nothing wrong with their ignition set up except for that **#@** wide gap between the pick up & magnet - but maybe they have changed that, I don't know, mine is 7 years old. I have a feeling they set the max. advance a bit short also because C & H checked mine and said they were able to advance it 6 degrees - it made quite a difference.
