Also, many have said the control rods in the kit are too short. Any suggestions on replacements or workarounds with the existing hardware? The stock hardware seems a bit too flexible so I was thinking of getting something different. This is my first fun-fly/3D style plane. What is light and works best for these short control linkages?

Havn't quite got mine ready to fly yet, but, on the control rods at the rear I used the 2-56 central hobbies carbon rods to build my control rods. I really don't think I saved any weight, I just wanted a stiffer connection.
