Look back at my pic that shows the fuel tank installation. You can see the JR HD switch and charge jack in the vertical ply strip just in front of the "B" on the side.

I agree, I was in a quandry on how to mount it without adding support structure, but this worked out just fine. I put my fuel dot on the underside behind the gear through a lightening hole in the gear plate.
