By the way, I got a chance to look over the Spit real good last night, and I noticed the surfaces didn't seem to travel all that far.
Mine definitely had this problem. I ended up shipping WM the stab/elevator for replacement. Even after flexing the elevator a couple hundred times I could only get about half of the recommended travel out of it. They replaced it without a problem but it's always a hassle shipping a part back and waiting for the new one.

I have the idle so low its about to quit and the plane is still rolling forward.
Pavement or grass? I fly off grass with the idle of my 1.00 about 2200 - 2300 rpm,s and it doesn't roll. You really don't need an ultra low idle on most warbirds as you are usually gonna come in with a little power. Chopping the throttle too quickly with a super low idle can be disastrous, especially if it's a little breezy.
