Joe, I hope they answer you on this one because I just bought the same plane and as soon as I find time I will be putting it together . Do you know where in this fourm I can find more info on this plane ?[8D]
I think I'll just buy a new tail wheel assembly. I'm not crazy about a set screw holding the wheel from turning. It's just going to come loose every landing. So I'll go and look for a new one. The stock one is 1 ounce and I'd like to find one that is no heavier. Tail weight on this plane with a light engine (Saito 180) is not a good thing. Any extra weight in the tail turns into 3-4 times the weight to counter balance it in the nose.
My main landing gear took all afternoon to get the wheels and wheel pants put together. It did not go together as the manual explained. It tells you to use a locking collar as a spacer on the axle but it's too wide. Better to use a couple of washers. Also tells you to spread apart the wheel pants to get the wheel and axle assembly inside. Don't spread them, they will crack for sure to have to spread that wide. Just slot the wheel pants with a dremmel and slide the axle down in the slot. Piece of cake. Also use a blind nut for the smaller screw that holds the wheel pants from rotating. Otherwise how do you tighten the nut? It's inside the wheel pant. I got that idea from my FuntanaS manual. Anyway I'm not complaining but just trying to help anyone else putting this ARF together. No ARF's out there are perfect so this is to be expected.
Here are all the links that I've used as a reference for building.
