Default Tail wheel on CAP232 25% ARF: help needed

I'm assembling a Kangke CAP232 25% ARF and things are not going together like the manual says (surprised?). I've done ok so far but this one I need some help on. The tail wheel assembly is one that has the springs that attach to the rudder control horns. My question is how far behind the rudder hinge line should my tail wheel pivot be? Normally my tail wheels are music wire that is glued into the rudder right on the hinge line but this one attaches with springs. The manual has a lot to be desired. The pic they show is an entirely different tail wheel that did not come with my kit. The springs are 1 3/4 inch long. They give no dimensions at all for mounting the tail wheel pivot. Should the springs be pre-loaded when the rudder is centered? I would think so. But how much?

Thanks

assuming that you have the same tail wheel they shipped with my Rearwin, mount the thing just as far back on the fuse as it will go. The wheel wil then wind up about 2" behind the hinge line. I would suggest that you go to the local hobby shop and by a Sig or Dave Patrick tail wheel as the one they shipped with my kit looked nice but didn't function very well. I upgraded after getting tired of messing with it.

I think I'll just buy a new tail wheel assembly. I'm not crazy about a set screw holding the wheel from turning. It's just going to come loose every landing. So I'll go and look for a new one. The stock one is 1 ounce and I'd like to find one that is no heavier. Tail weight on this plane with a light engine (Saito 180) is not a good thing. Any extra weight in the tail turns into 3-4 times the weight to counter balance it in the nose.

My main landing gear took all afternoon to get the wheels and wheel pants put together. It did not go together as the manual explained. It tells you to use a locking collar as a spacer on the axle but it's too wide. Better to use a couple of washers. Also tells you to spread apart the wheel pants to get the wheel and axle assembly inside. Don't spread them, they will crack for sure to have to spread that wide. Just slot the wheel pants with a dremmel and slide the axle down in the slot. Piece of cake. Also use a blind nut for the smaller screw that holds the wheel pants from rotating. Otherwise how do you tighten the nut? It's inside the wheel pant. I got that idea from my FuntanaS manual. Anyway I'm not complaining but just trying to help anyone else putting this ARF together. No ARF's out there are perfect so this is to be expected.

Here are all the links that I've used as a reference for building.
