I think you miss the point. There's nothing wrong with advocating change in the AMA. The problem is personal attacks and insults. There's a difference between saying, for example, "The current officers have lost touch with the membership," and "Mr. So-and-so has his head up his arse." The first can be responded to, the second just makes people defensive and understandably makes them feel attacked. I don't think a moderated AMA Forum would cut out any respectfully-stated difference of opinion or advocacy for change. It would cut out the name calling and the insults (used by only a small group of members) that drive people apart, and away from the forum.
