RE: ULTIMATE bipe question
Tomorrow? We thought you ordered already! Are you getting the 40 or the 120? You'll love it, I was really impressed by the little things that are done in the kit. The canopy was mounted, The cabanes were in and painted; on the cowl screws there are pieces of tubing to protect the cowl. oh and the cowl was mounted already too! The fit and finish was excellent. The pull-pull on rudder AND elevators is just something you don't find on too many arfs if any.
One complaint. The gear is a little soft but I've never put them up into the bottom wing like I've read on some threads. That doesn't happen with any kind of normal landing. Anyone that says it does isn't neing honest about how the really landed.
I built the Goldberg Ultimate first and I thought it was great. In fact I wanted one for so long, I turned down a DP for the Goldberg. After a season with the Goldberg I finally got cocky and lost it. Then I got the DP and realized its a few steps up in class from the Goldberg arf.
And in my opinion from what I saw at Joe Nall the Fit and finish was a bit better on Dp's than the Aeroworks also. I hear the Aerowrks flies great but to me the cabanes looked a bit clunky and the wing struts stuck out too far on the leading edge. Its small stuff like that, that adds up to my overall appreciation for a plane.
DP is a class act as far as I'm concerned when it comes to putting out a nice arf.
