If it has a clutch it's a "long shaft". No clutch then it's a short shaft. I can be either 28 or 31cc clutch or not. The 28cc cylinder fins are a bit different having two round small fins at the spark plug while the 31cc engines fins are pretty much the same size and square shape to the plug with the top fin being only a bit shorter at one edge.
