Hello,
I have an interesting one. I came across a Ryan weed trimmer. It doesn't have much info on it except that it is a model 265. Not sure of cc's or anything. There is a support number on it and if I call I get ryobi. Check Ryobi's site and no mention of Ryan trimmers. Go figure. Anyhow I am curious if anyone has seen these and if they are truly Ryobi engines in them, what cc this might be, and has anyone converted one. Seem pretty light so it may be a "canidate". I did notice it has a Walboro carb on it. Well anyone info would be great.
Thanks,
Kerry

If it has a clutch it's a "long shaft". No clutch then it's a short shaft. I can be either 28 or 31cc clutch or not. The 28cc cylinder fins are a bit different having two round small fins at the spark plug while the 31cc engines fins are pretty much the same size and square shape to the plug with the top fin being only a bit shorter at one edge. Hope that helps.......Bob

I am not familiar with the Ryan 265; however, the Ryan model 264 has a displacement of 28.5 cc (1.7 cu. in.). The bore is 1.31 in. (33.27 mm) and the engine has an operating RPM of 7000. The engine was manufactured by Inertia Dynamics Corp., is an air-cooled 2 cycle with a 1.25 in. (3.75 mm) stroke and an electronic ignition. Average compression for the engine is 90 to 120 psi. I have a manual for this trimmer so if you need further info shoot me an e-mail. Good luck.

I just acquired a ryan 265 this weekend. The recoil on the starter doesn't work. When pulled it doesn't recoil. When I disassemble it, and manually wind the rope on the spool and test it it pulls and recoils just fine. After assembly, i tpulls, binds up and will not recoil. Any thoughts

Thanks,

Ihad the same issue on same model, it would recoil fine unless you pull the rope to max distance.. Basically the spring is binding up because it is wound up too tight. If you unloop the rope until it recoils but not all they way, and then add just one loop, it should fix the problem. To unwind loops, pull the rope out a foot, hold the spool to keep it from recoiling, then push the rope back in and grab the loose rope inside.
