Man, I don't think you could make a similar plane any lighter. I've got single aileron wings, the pull-pull tail, 2 1400 mAh servo NiCads, a 600 mAh receiver NiCad (EMS Jomar Optical Isolator), a Brison 2.4 w/ a 1200 mAh ignition battery, and when I put it on the scale it last weighed 14.9 lbs. The wing loading is so darn low that the plane just does not want to land. Weight might be an issue with the larger 50cc engines, but with a light motor like the Brison, the plane stays nice and light and has MORE than enough power! I've noticed the design has some stability issues in certain maneuvers, but I still would argue that there are very few if any that can match its all around performance for the size, price, and quality.
