Default RE: Duratrax maximum st ?

I have an Maximum MT that I have converted to a ST.

Everything about the truck is simple, straight forward and fairly easy to work on and tune. I have the 1 speed transmission. I have read that the 2 speed transmission that comes with the Pro version can be problematic.

They have good straight line speed, decent handling, and are great for small to medium jumps. They make good bashing trucks. the Torq 16 is a surprisingly good (not great) motor. The shocks and suspension are very adjustable so I have been able to find a set up that suits me and I make the most of it.

I have run only about 2 quarts through mine with out too many problems. I broke the metal spur and replaced it with a plastic one (also bought 2-3 spares). If you get an Max ST I highly suggest you remove the phillips head screws that hold the engine to the chassis and replace them with hex head screws and tighten them down good. That will help keep the gear mesh correct, otherwise the engine will slide around a bit on the chassis and you will strip a spur gear or even worse, a clutch bell. I also recommend tightening down the slipper (1 speed tranny) just about all the way.

I was recently running way to lean (probably over 300 degrees) and I broke the crankshaft. I was able to fix it for 10 dollars.

When I run mine, people want to know what it is, and when I tell them it's a Duratrax, they usually shrug their shoulders and walk away.
