Question about CA hinges
The CA hinges that connect the aileron to the wing that I am putting together are octagon shape with a slit in the middle of them. This is a replacement ARF trainer wing for the original RTF wing that I destroyed in a wreck. It is also my first time attempting to build anything ( if you want to call this building ), other than doing minor repairs to my plane due to rough landings and what not.
My question is when putting the CA hinges in, does the small slit in the hinge run parallel with the wing and aileron, or perpendicular? It does not say anywhere in the directions. I'm assuming that the slit runs parallel, therefore giving the aileron a little more flex, but it looks like it would make the hinge weaker between the aileron and wing as there is only a little bit of actual hinge on each sides of the slit holding the two together. Then again, there are four hinges for each side of the wing, so maybe thats enough??? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Tim.
