Default beware when buying new battery packs

i have just learn't a hard lesson tonight. i bought a new futaba 7 channel receiver and a 1700 mah battery last week to go in my stuka. i balance it up today and it was nose heavy. i decided to move the r/x and battey towards the back. everything went in ok so i hooke the battry up to the switch, next thing i had a fire all my servo wires, on/off switch and battery wires burnt out i dont know if the receiver is damaged too. when i looked at the battery the sticker the LHS put on it said JR/hitec now im not sure what to do. should i go back to the store with the plane and battery and try to get them to sort out the damaged this made? is it the battery that caused the problem?. any help would be appreciated. thanks paul. CHECK THE LABEL BEFORE INSTALLING ANY NEW ELECTRICS.
