I don't know if the battery was the cause of the fire, but if it was, I am of the opinion that LHS should replace all the components that were damaged. Mistakes happen, but the "expert" who sold you the parts should know--it is their business to know or to say, "I don't know".

I do believe that they should be made aware of their mistake. Think of what might have happened if you just plugged it in and left for a while. We aren't talking about just a little plane any more.

I would be surprised if they offered to fix your plane though.
