While all the methods will work I have found the commercially available application fluids to be superior. If you need to reposition it is no problem. Window cleaner, soap, etc, will work however there are times it will stick and you will have the problem mentioned (ripping). This can be really an advantage when working on a 12' sign or a 40% aircraft. I try to assist the installation for the first try as it's new techniques. Most things aren't difficult once we learn the process.
