GP Patty Wagstaff and Robart hinges
Ok guys, after a pretty long search I haven't been able to find the answer to my question. (I don't feel like reading each and every of 7000 posts to find this!)
I want to put Robart hinge points instead of CA hinges and am concerned about how much wood the hinges are actually securing themselves to. I drilled the hinges and am pretty comfortable with the rudder and ailerons, but the elevator seems to have a pretty thin TE of the stab and LE of the elevator. Have you been doing anything to beef up the wood, or are using poly glue expecting it to hold tight enough. I really don't want to use CA hinges but I will if the Robarts don't seem to be strong enough. I measured the wood using a hooked piece of wire through the hole and it looks to be thick enough for the first barb to just hit the edge of the wood. All of the rest of the barbs are past the wood. If I were building the plane from a kit, there would be plenty of wood, but since it is an ARF, I am kind of stuck. (one more reason I don't like ARF's!) Please let me know what you guys have been doing on this particular plane. I know a lot of guys have used Robarts on this plane and I am just having some reservations.
Thanks
