Is it me or in the last 6-8 months Dave Brown not wrote about anything in his monthly column other than insurance/risk aversion policies?
Well maybe once if you include when he wrote about his involvment in the Atlantic crossing flight....
Correct. The one month he wrote about his participation in an impressive autonomous flight across the Atlantic ocean, and then promptly moved to ban autonomous flight for the rest of us. Dave Brown will not be getting my vote.
Perhaps you should rethink this item as a reason for the validity of voting or NOT voting for DB.
DB did -- as the President of AMA -- exactly what he should have. He involved AMA in another individual's personal endeavor which was an international event. He brought recognition of AMA in the recognition of the feat
At this time, IMO, DB also perceived the potential threat of this new technology and moved to initiate action to convince the powers-that-be that AMA was not going to promote the use of such technology within the sport-hobby-recreational use of model aviation. Again - my opinion - DB sort of went on a quick-draw, peas-poor procedural method and again confused the membership on his real motive to protect the model aviation fraternity from the bureaucratic power grabs of the *we gona' save you , we are, we are,* gestapo security forces.
So while DB may be focused on the insurance company a bit too much, he does deserve credit when credit is due.
