[Re the vision ...how do you know that whatever vision any of these guys espouses in his campaign blurbs is in any way related to what he will actually do once in office ? As far as I'm concerned, it's probably all a crapshoot.

It's not worth wasting your time, until the candidates have been chosen by the EC, but, the records of those running for president are all on the record. Even Wes De Cou, who is now handles West Regional Flying Site Assistance was a D2 VP and his voting record is reflected in the AMA minutes. Mathewson, Hanson, and Oberdieck are all on the EC now. Of course, we know the most about Brown because he puts his opinons in his column each month. Each, and everyone running, has a record that reflects their vision. It reduces the guessing.

Making posts is easy. Read, remember what you read, remember where you read it and the post only takes a minute.
One of the basic facts of physics is that everything is relative... to the speed of light.
Keep working on the mindreading. You might make it as a magician someday. If you fall short, you can always try the carnival.
In the meantime, why not let what people have to say stand on what they say and not an what you think they might say? You appear to have opinions that are interesting to read; why extend it to what others say? Or do you talk to yourself a lot? What is that they call it when you have multiple personalities and where the different personalities talk to each other?
Where is Dr. Frank when you need him?

From: someplace,
J_R, Come on now, are you resorting to snide remarks? magician, carnival. I'm sure you must have some experience relating to carnivals. Aren't clowns associated with carnivals?
The next thing you'll say is that "John Edwards" can't contact the dearly departed either. Gee that would be very disrupting to so many folks.
Hey Branuam, sorry you did not fair well in Mind reading 101. I found the classes quite interesting. And I won't divulge any of the lessons. You just might have to try it one more time.
I have nothing against science fiction. I mean we even have one of Buck Rogers arch enemys on some of these forums.
Have fun I'm going on vacation. I'm confident most of the issues will be settled by the time I return.
Try not to miss me too much.

Is it me or in the last 6-8 months Dave Brown not wrote about anything in his monthly column other than insurance/risk aversion policies?
Well maybe once if you include when he wrote about his involvment in the Atlantic crossing flight....
I know I'm exaggerating cause one month he talked about paper airplanes or some such crap like that.
How about a president that leads - not just tries to keep someone from sueing or being sued?

I think that Dave Brown needs to consider retiring from the position. He has made some truly bizarre decisions over the past year or so.
AMA needs new leadership.
--Bill Harris
AMA 607983 and proud of it.
District 5 and embarrassed. Let's change that!
Dave Brown, step down.

Correct. The one month he wrote about his participation in an impressive autonomous flight across the Atlantic ocean, and then promptly moved to ban autonomous flight for the rest of us. Dave Brown will not be getting my vote.

DB did -- as the President of AMA -- exactly what he should have. He involved AMA in another individual's personal endeavor which was an international event. He brought recognition of AMA in the recognition of the feat
At this time, IMO, DB also perceived the potential threat of this new technology and moved to initiate action to convince the powers-that-be that AMA was not going to promote the use of such technology within the sport-hobby-recreational use of model aviation. Again - my opinion - DB sort of went on a quick-draw, peas-poor procedural method and again confused the membership on his real motive to protect the model aviation fraternity from the bureaucratic power grabs of the *we gona' save you , we are, we are,* gestapo security forces.
So while DB may be focused on the insurance company a bit too much, he does deserve credit when credit is due.

Hi ya'll,
You mention Brown and the turbine thing, remember there is more!
Don't forget that the safety rule addition this year literally outlaws the
flight of ANY AIRCRAFT WHILE effectively restricting modeling progress.
This was indicated to Mr. Brown several times with the reply that all is fine just as now is. Including the inappropriate wording and restrictions.
Want details? Check this formums Autonomous flight postings.
The election> last ime the total vote was 12% of the membership, Brown
recieved over 50% of that vote.
It would appear> this time there will be several mominees. The only way
another could win is if he total vote was vastly greater and Brown got less
than 50%. The reminder will be divided amongst the others and one would
need a land slide. That potential seems to be with Mathewson?
Bottom line? If we desire a realistic and worth while election a strong
movement has to be made TO GET OUT THE VOTE and if you read this
you and your friends can help do that!!
Lets all be resourceful and good AMA people. OK?
