RE: LANIER 120 SIZE 540 EDGE
The G23 is not enough. I had a G26 on mine and it flew ok, but forget about vertical. I finally wound up with a Brison 2.4 and hit the perfect combination. I needed the weight anyway, and the brison was perfect. The planes weight was on the money with that engine and power for vertical was no problem. I had a ball until a radio hit, and you can guess the rest. Oh yea, if you haven't flown it yet, beef up the gear no matter what engine you use. Lanier has a tradition of using cheap grades of plywood for the gear, and if yours doesn't come off consider yourself lucky. Our club had three Lanier planes (Two Lasers and my 540), that had the gear come off in one day. None of the planes had hard landings.
