I am debating putting my OS BGX-3500 on the nose, Has any one flown this set up?
My reason's are primarily, I got the plane and engine already,
The plane is tail heavy with the OS 160 that is on it,
and I fly at 7000' above sea level.
Any comment's.

I think this is a good motor for this plane. I know of one with a MDS 2.1 and balance is correct without adding nose weight.
I have a 1.6 in mine and my balance point is closer to 5" back with still about 3/4 pounds in the nose. 12.8 pounds dry.

I agree. They tend to come out tail heavy anyway without nose weight, so instead of adding "dead" weight, why not at least add the weight as extra power? I stuffed the ST 3250 in mine, but I also doubled the firewall (something you may also want to consider given the weight of your engine). Just use GOOD quality high torque servos with tight, heavy duty linkages (be carefull of what the kit comes with), and as long as you practice throttle management, I think it will do fine. Mine is a GREAT flyer and I'll bet you like yours too..

I'm considering this airplane and I was wondering if a G23 would fly it okay? I know it's a heavier engine but maybe that's okay with the way the CG is coming out with these lighter engines. Would it have enough power? I'm looking for half throttle hovers. Any comments?

The G23 is not enough. I had a G26 on mine and it flew ok, but forget about vertical. I finally wound up with a Brison 2.4 and hit the perfect combination. I needed the weight anyway, and the brison was perfect. The planes weight was on the money with that engine and power for vertical was no problem. I had a ball until a radio hit, and you can guess the rest. Oh yea, if you haven't flown it yet, beef up the gear no matter what engine you use. Lanier has a tradition of using cheap grades of plywood for the gear, and if yours doesn't come off consider yourself lucky. Our club had three Lanier planes (Two Lasers and my 540), that had the gear come off in one day. None of the planes had hard landings.
