Default RE: basic tune up i need to know?

also.. keep it clean. It not only looks better but the engine runs cooler when it's clean. Don't let it overheat by either doing the spit-test or buying a temp gun. The spit should boil in about 3 seconds if the truck is tuned right.. or the temperature should be about 240ยบ F.

I started out with a quart of nitro break-in-blend fuel but it's not really needed. Yes.. as said above, buying in bulk is the way to go. Somehow you're saving twice the money buying a gallon at my LHS.

Quart = like $11..
4 quarts in a Gallon = like $23

Don't be surprized if you burn up a glow plug even on the first tank. That's what mine did and I'm still going strong on my second almost thru a gallon of nitro.

Break-in is a pain in the arse. Run it really rich.. these first 6 tanks are crucial. You're engine will not want to start and stay running. Stick with it, hold half throttle to start it.. get thru the first two-three tanks then start leaning it out and it will start much easier.

The truck should emit quite a bit of smoke. It shouldn't sound perfecly smooth. It should sound just a little blubbery even after break-in and tuned properly.

Reading the instructions and asking the LHS questions is really the best thing to do.
