RE: Zoneless Box
I have yet to see the zoneless box result in "smaller foot prints". I have no problem with change and if the change needed is to get the planes closer in for sound reasons, then simply make the boundaries smaller and enforce them. I wish it would have worked but it hasn't from my experience.
Also as Kevin stated above, as well as that of many others, the score given is subjective and there really is no guidelines, for instance, as to where to apply a 4 as apposed to a 7. It depends on how the flight made the judge "feel". I went into the zoneless box trial season with an open mind to see how we can make it work. Unfortunately I witnessed first hand how the subjective part of the zoneless box can (and possibly did) make a difference in the outcome of a contest. I judged a round and then later scribed for a round of the same class that I had just judged and was truely amazed at the difference in presentation scores.
Just my $.02............Mark
