Can't really help much with the covering but how about using a small peice of soft plastic to use as a guide for getting the stab in

As far as the engine I am using the OS 46AX with the 12.25X3.75 APC Prop and man does thing plane rock

I did start out on the 11X5 APC prop for the first few flights then changed
