I'm 17 now and I was gonna urn about $ 2500 !!!, but due to the law I'm not allowed to work for more then 23 days and that was my problem. this and the school starting urly sliced my budget in half.
an R50 was my first obvious choice, but that just won't work, unless I wait a couple more months, but then it will be winter ..., and I don't want to start in the winter, can't be good for a beginner and the engine ...
about the radio, my mind is already made up about that, it's not just the radio, also the fact that it's a PCM version and that you get 5 digital servo's with it !!!
I'm just gonna have to save up some more ...
You are in about the same position that I am. Like I said, I'm just taking everything slow, and not really rushin when I get my heli. I have about $650 saved up, and since I plane on gettin the R50, I have about $200 to go (since I already won that Futaba 7C)...Total of about $850 or so...But, just like you don't want to get another radio..you're like me. At first, I had my MIN SET ON GETTING a R30 and not a R50, but after alot of looking around, I found that the 50 was the best bang for the buck (sort to speak), since i wouldn't have to do all the upgrading from a 30 to a 50. But, like you, you have decided on that very expensive 8103 PCM. Seriously, you don't need digital servos or a PCM radio. That's just making you spend $100 more. You could get a 7C and get like Hitec 645's (like I'm probably going to get) to use on your heli.
Whatever you do, I hope you make the right decision. But no matter what you do, I'm sure you will be happy with a 30 or 50!!
