I'd look at dropping the CarryMaster and the Toolbox. For the short run you can use a cardboard box. However, you will want to add a pitch gauge to the list as you cannot do proper setup without it.

Well for starters since you are in Belgium, where are you ordering this stuff from?

Is this your first helicopter?

Is it really necessary to get the the very highest end PCM radio?

Why an extra flight pack?

What are these two big $ items:
TTR CarryMaster Combo SALE - $ 119,99
- HeliProz Basic Heli Toolbox*- $ 79,99

If this is your very first helicopter would you be willing to buy a used trainer helo?

From HeliProz, they are the cheapest i could find on the web, in Belgium I would pay at least $ 400 for a .30 with a TT30

Is this your first helicopter?
yes, but I've been doing research for the past 6 months and I know about everything there is to know about buying a heli

Is it really necessary to get the the very highest end PCM radio?
no, but I can get the most information about the JR 8103 in my neigbourhood (it's for example also the radio used in Ray's authoratitive manual)

Why an extra flight pack?
extra flight pack ?

What are these two big $ items:
TTR CarryMaster Combo SALE - $ 119,99
- HeliProz Basic Heli Toolbox*- $ 79,99
- the carrymaster has all you need to have for starting and fueling: "Entry level flight support package includes molded carry case plus 3 liter fuel container, 12v battery plus charger, Electric starter, 12v fuel pump, glow lighter plus charger, 4-way wrench, recoil tubing. Space for start extension and some tools too. (Hex start extension is NOT included)"

- the basic heli toolbox has, ass it implies all you need for building and transporting: "*Molded toolbox with removable tray and double action latch *MavrikkPitch Gauge - easy to use and easiest to read accurately, *Mavrikk Metric Hex Driver set with all the sizes you are likely to ever need, CNC anodized grips, hardened tips *Mavrikk Ball Link Pliers - the best value available in this indespensible tool! *Piston Locking Tool for aid in tightening fan and prop nut *4-Way Metric wrench for prop nuts *Wiha soft grip long reach glow pug wrench - simply the best tool for the job, very high quality! *HeliProz Foam Blade Holder"

If this is your very first helicopter would you be willing to buy a used trainer helo?
No, because I want to do everything on my own, so that I know my heli from top to buttom

I am also saving up for a Rappy 50....Gettin there pretty fast though. How old are you? (just wodnering)

It's neat to see other people saving up for a heli. I personally think that you could do with out that 8103 radio. Really though. Just beause that's the radio tat you could get help with, doen't mean that you have to get that particular one. What about some other one like...um....A Futaba 7CHP is only $250 at my Hobby Store. You could go even lower if you don't have to have a computer one, but I would suggest you have a computer one though.

Really though, I think you could save $200+ by not buying that very expensive JR radio. You know that you have a manual and stuff, and if you get another radio, then the other pilots that would have helped you out on the 8103, I'm sure would be able to help you out on another cheaper but good radio. IMHO, I think you should look at the Futaba 7CHP that I mentioned above. That is a great radio, and I have looked throught the programming, and it's a breeze (not to say that JR isn't easy - I have never owned or programmed a JR one)....

Now, I'm looking at that CoolPower price, and I'm just wondering if you made a mistake, well typo in typing that $100??......That sure alot, even in Belgium!!

Hope that helps, and hope that you have fun w/ whatever you get!!

I'm 17 now and I was gonna urn about $ 2500 !!!, but due to the law I'm not allowed to work for more then 23 days and that was my problem. this and the school starting urly sliced my budget in half.

an R50 was my first obvious choice, but that just won't work, unless I wait a couple more months, but then it will be winter ..., and I don't want to start in the winter, can't be good for a beginner and the engine ...

about the radio, my mind is already made up about that, it's not just the radio, also the fact that it's a PCM version and that you get 5 digital servo's with it !!!

I'm just gonna have to save up some more ...

$100 is alot of fuel! i'm assuming that is a 4 gallon case. Instead, just get a gallon locally if you can. (-$75) you probably won't need 6 glow plugs in the next 3 years with that, so just buy two instead. ($-20) Extra flight pack (battery), I was going to say scrap that but depending on what the radio comes with you may want it. Is the stock one a 600mah pack?

other then that, as others have mentioned I would pick a different radio. 7c/9c would be a great choice. PCM and digitals are certainly not required either, and could be left as upgrades for later.

personally, given the choice in between not having a heli for quite a while longer or buying now with mine and everyone elses recommendations, I would be ordering a heli right now! [8D]

You are in about the same position that I am. Like I said, I'm just taking everything slow, and not really rushin when I get my heli. I have about $650 saved up, and since I plane on gettin the R50, I have about $200 to go (since I already won that Futaba 7C)...Total of about $850 or so...But, just like you don't want to get another radio..you're like me. At first, I had my MIN SET ON GETTING a R30 and not a R50, but after alot of looking around, I found that the 50 was the best bang for the buck (sort to speak), since i wouldn't have to do all the upgrading from a 30 to a 50. But, like you, you have decided on that very expensive 8103 PCM. Seriously, you don't need digital servos or a PCM radio. That's just making you spend $100 more. You could get a 7C and get like Hitec 645's (like I'm probably going to get) to use on your heli.

Whatever you do, I hope you make the right decision. But no matter what you do, I'm sure you will be happy with a 30 or 50!!

I know I don't need all those digitals and a PCM radio, but it's like you said, I had my lind set on the 8103 + I can use that radio for future heli purchases [8D]
However, if anyone can point me out to an other radio which comes with it's own digital servo's, I'd be glad to check them out.

for the heli, I'm going to get a 50, I'll just have to save up some more.

Other guys out there: Will those 3151's that come with the Futaba 7C work....I was thinking that they wouldn't......Just not enough of anything. (torque or speed)....

I think that you might be able to drop the many glow plugs that you have.....You really shouldn't get that many like some other's said.....You really don't go through that much....unless you did something wrong to the engine......Also, you might could drop that blade tracking tape and just use some paint for tracking!!

I don't know what you have over in Belguim, but I could just go to a Lowe's (hardware store) and get some kind of carrying case instead of buying that $79 Toolbox...

I do like that you have the 7C but like I said, I don't think that you could, or will be able to use the 3151 servos for a 50.....You might could just get that radio with the standard 3004 servos and then get some Hitecs....or something like that....You'll spend about 250USD if you were to get the version with just the standard Futaba 3004 servos....That might save you some money!!

Best Wishes......Hope you have fun!!

would 43.0 really not be enough torque for a .50 heli ? ... [&:]

lol, that would mean that I'm back from where I started, the 8103 came with something arround 55.0 torque digital servo's.

Yeah....I really don't think that 43 could be enough.....I heard from some thread that the manuf. recommends at least like 70 or something for a R50......

Hope that helps...
