Actually, I think the Chinese proverb goes more like...

Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day, teach a man to fish, and he'll never go hungry.

Or perhaps....

Give a newbie a plane, and he'll crash it instantly, but teach a newbie to fly, and he'll never be bored. ;-)
