RE: Thinking about a CG Ultimate 10-300....
I am waiting to get my CG Ultimate and plan on building it over the Winter. This is my third full season fying and I am not sure if I will be ready for this plane by next year. I was given an Avistar in 2001 and flew it for 2 months before Winter came, and the whole next year. Last year I went with a Sig Somethin Extra and it was a blast. It was a little much for me to handle but I kept it in the air. Except a few problems I had. Somehow a switch on my remote got flipped and right was left, CRASH. Then I left my radio battery on and made a field change to a battery holder with 4 AAs, It made the plane really nose heavy, CRASH!!
So the good news is I have gotten pretty god at building and rebuilding, the bad news is I havent had a lot of time on a higher level plane. I have been flying my Avistar this year while I work out the bugs and get the Somethin Extra back in the air. I hope to be flying it this week or next. So my questions...
I won't have enough money to buy a dcent engine for sometime. So I want to take my time and build it perfect.
1. Will this be too much plane for me? I plan on flying my Somethin Extra a lot the rest of this year and a while next year before I would even try this plane. I would have a pro take it off and trim it out for me for sure.
2. I have been reading all the excellent info on Engines here and will likely not make up my mind until I have some money to spend. In the meantime is it possible to build this engine without knowing what kind of engine will be attached to my firewall, how hard will it be to mount the engine after I build it?
3. I have read some good information on customizations, please keep them coming.
