Do not use a hot glue gun, thats worse than cyano, epoxy is the only way.
Hot glue gun can have some spongy properties and it's adheasive properties are sh$t. You should have drillied into the elevator leaving some wood behind to aid with the strenght. But only use epoxy on it.
