I read through the thread and didn't see any mention of neighbors. What's the situation there?
The reason I ask is, 2 acres is nothing, when you're flying anything that might get above 400'. If you're flying parkflyers or Lazy Bees or something light & slow, 2 acres is plenty. If you're flying a ½A glow combat plane, 2 acres with a bunch of overfly would be fine. If you're flying a .40 sport plane, you'd want that 2 acres arranged in a runway, and another 10 acres (give or take, but that seems minimal) for overfly. And if neighbors are close enough to hear that ½A combat plane, you might want to make sure they enjoy the sound.
I hope you get to fly at home, I'd sure like that! I told a guy who was visiting our tent at the local Blue Angels airshow, if he rigged a field at his house, he'd make a lot of friends among us, right away!
