The biggest issue with the 6-cell, 900mAh NiMH pack is weight. It is about 4oz.

Consider a 2-cell [link=http://www.hobby-lobby.com/thunderpower.htm]Thunderpower[/link] 860mAh pack that can deliver 8.5amps continuous and up to 13amps burst at only 1.5oz.

A 2.5oz weight reduction in your small plane makes a huge performance upgrade!
